The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Center for Excellence has teamed with the Penn State Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness to provide our military families with high-quality resources that have been reviewed and considered to be the best of their kind based on several criteria. Each of the resources provided below has been vetted for relevance, organization, ease of use, and resource content. Participants will learn about the evidence-based benefits of using breathing exercises to support mental, physical, and overall well-being. Participants will also have opportunities to practice a few breathing techniques and leave with tips and resources to continue using the learned techniques at home.

Participants will also have an opportunity to try a brief meditation practice and they will leave with tips and resources to set up a home meditation practice.

This class explores mind-body exercises as a tool to help manage stress. Participants will learn about the evidence-informed benefits of using exercises, including yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong, to help support mental, physical, and overall well-being. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice a few simple movements and leave with tips and resources to explore and to develop the practices discussed.

Understanding and Reducing Anger

[July 2021] Pre-deployment, During Deployment, or Post Deployment

Participants will define anger and learn facts about anger, including what triggers anger and how to handle their anger in various situations. Using the Anger Episode Model as a tool for understanding anger, participants will discuss three skills to reduce and manage anger and examine positive and negative short-term and long-term outcomes, problem-solving techniques, and solutions.
