The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Center for Excellence has teamed with Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State to provide our military families with high-quality resources that have been reviewed and considered to be the best of their kind based on several criteria. Each of the resources provided below has been vetted for relevance, organization, ease of use, and resource content. All resources listed are also free to use; however, some of the online resources may require registration to access some of their features.
YRRP does not accept or respond to unsolicited offers of services, resources, or products. Organizations wishing to provide support for Yellow Ribbon events are encouraged to contact local event planners to coordinate.

The National Center for PTSD (NC PTSD) conducts PTSD research and houses PTSD-related information for the VA. One relevant feature NC PTSD offers is About Face. About Face is an online campaign where one can go to learn about PTSD, treatment options, and hear real stories from those who have struggled with PTSD.

Concussion Coach is a mobile app offered by the VA. The app is designed to help Service members and others cope with TBI. The resource offers a number of features including, self-assessments, journaling tools, symptom tracking, and symptom relief exercises.

Headway
Headway provides information, support, and services to survivors, their families, and caregivers. Although the organization is based out of the United Kingdom, the resource content is applicable to a broader audience. Check out Headway’s online community to find tips on managing TBI.

Connecting Service members and their loved ones with resources that make a difference in their lives is Make the Connection’s mission. An in-depth service that the website offers is their resource locator tool. This locator combines resources from three sources in one place: VA, Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Behavioral Health Treatment Services, and the National Resource Directory.

Mental Health America specializes in “prevention services for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk, integrated care, services, and supports for those who need it, with recovery as the goal.” The PTSD portion of Mental Health America offers a variety of content including general information on the topic and treatment options. One of the more informative tools the organization offers is the PTSD screener. Following completion of the screener users are given tailored feedback on treatment recommendations.
